Chinese Lunch @ Tasty Kitchen

My boss took me out for lunch today because my birthday is coming soon and we will miss each other next couple of weeks for business trips.

After moving to West LA, I’ve missed good Chinese food. So she introduced me to her favorite Chinese restaurant near office.

Fried Milk (not listed on the menu)
It sounds so weird, but tastes nice. The texture is like tofu and seasoning is very mild.

IMG_6377
Salt & Pepper Squid
Nicely crispy. I am sure it would go well with beer.

IMG_6375
MaPo Tofu
It is very spicy.

IMG_6376
Green Beans
Ordinary dish, but very tasteful.

IMG_6374
All dish is lunch special ($6.88, $7.88 or $8.88) including rice and soup.

We both got so full and had a plenty of leftover to take home. Thank you Boss 🙂

Banshaku Alone

“Banshaku” means drinking in the evening in Japanese. Stereotype of banshaku is sake or beer along with small dishes. I did banshaku alone since he comes home late from work last couple of days.

At Home, My Cooking

Hikikomori Saturday

I sometime want to shut down from all my social life and be alone. Maybe I am a Hikikomori? Hikikomori is a Japanese term meaning social withdrawal and there are more Hikikomori people in Japan in recent years.

Anyway, I did nothing productive and ate whatever/whenever I felt today.
