Chris Palmer (Lemonade & Ginger Plum Tea) $2

We realize we have been here before, but it was called “Creation Grill.” Menu items look mostly same though.

After dinner, we took a walk several blocks in the neighborhood. Fun to discover new stores and restaurants.

Amazing Lunch @ King Poke

I happened to find a new poke place in Lomita and tried out for lunch. It’s 15 minute drive each way from my work, but totally worth it.

There are four step to make your own poke bowl. All poke bowl has albacore, tuna, salmon in it.

1. Choose size: Small looked really small, so I picked medium. But I realized that small would have generous amount of fish and be good to me.

2. Choose sushi rice or harusame noodle (lighter option): Picked rice for the first time.

3. Choose sauce: 5 sauces available including creamy sesame or spicy Korean. Tried the most popular house ponzu today.

4. Choose topping: cilantro, fried onion and shredded nori for mine.

Medium Poke Bowl with Ponzu, Fried Onion, Cilantro, Shredded Seaweed $8.95 + green tea $1.50

Wow, the best poke ever. Ponzu is a little spicy which is just right. They mix fish with sauce as you order. So it tastes fresh and not soggy.

I arrived 12:10, but it got really busy by 12:20. They seem to attract all kinds of people, young and old, men and women, all different ethnicities.

Definitely will try all other sauce and noodle. The fish taco (2) looks good and is only $3.50. Can’t wait to go back.

Sunny has been out of the restaurant. A co-worker says he’s been in Texas helping his friend’s business. Another says, “I hope he’s been ok.” I am hoping he is not divorcing Vihn. It tastes as good as usual. We just miss Sunny there.

Two Dozens Oysters & Uni Pasta

Last night I suddenly craved for oysters.

A question was the Backhouse or EMC? Backhouse is just a few blocks away from home, but I wanted to try EMC in Koreatown, which I’ve never been to.

My friend and I arrived there at 4pm when happy hour just started.

First question asked by our server was, “How many oysters would you like?”

Ok, I guess everyone comes here for oysters.

IMG_9788
A dozen of oysters for two + Deschutes White IPA (mine), Lost Coast Downtown Brown (hers)

From 4-7pm daily, you can get $1/oyster and $5/beer & house wine here. Yay!

Garlic Brussel Sprouts $6
It was not necessary to order, but it was pretty good.

IMG_9791
I was debating between uni pasta ($21) and garlic noodle ($8). Both dishes are recommended on yelp. She said, “Why not ordering uni at a seafood restaurant!?” Noodle is probably fresh pasta or some kind of eggy noodle, which is good and chewy. I like the texture of cream uni sauce with smelt egg. Fresh uni on top tastes great.

IMG_9793
2nd round: Another dozen + chardonnay
Dry white wine makes oysters and uni even more delicious.

Wow, this is the happiest happy hour ever!

It ended with $45 including tax & tip per person. Amazing for a dozen of oysters, fresh uni and two drinks.

There are plenty parking space in the structure since Zion Korean Market is in the same building.

Just because he doesn’t eat oysters, I don’t have to feel guilty to eat them by myself. I would do this sometime soon again. He was so happy because I was so happy 🙂
