Antipasto: Mantecato (Creamy Cheese Appetizer)

Mantecato means “mix well.” One is Philadelphia whipped cream cheese (originally Toma Cheese) mixed with salt, pepper, olive oil and walnut on top. Another is mixture of mascarpone and gorgonzola with a drizzle of truffle honey.

Enjoying with grissini and crackers. Both are available at Trader Joe’s.

IMG_0989
A friend brought a bottle of Viognier.  Well balanced and perfect with cheese dish.

IMG_0986
Primo Piatto: Spaghetti alla Puttanesca
It means “prostitute style spaghetti.” It’s named because they are always busy and this recipe is so quick to make. Interesting!

Because it tastes complexly flavorful, you could never imagine how simple it actually is.

IMG_0988
Secondo Piatto: Pesce al Forno con Patate
Gorgeous dish of a whole red snapper.

IMG_0991
Fluffy fish with all flavors infused potatoes

IMG_0993
Dolce: Tortino di Mela (spooky version)

IMG_0994
This mini apple cake is easy to bake too.

My Favorite Ramen!?

I felt so sick this morning, but there was unfinished business to take care of at work 😦

As trying to work hard, I was getting hungry and craving for Jiro Ramen with a lot of bean sprouts and garlic, that could help me get over this sick.

IMG_0925
Garlic on the side.

IMG_0927
Jiro Style Ramen $10.95
Pork broth is flavorful but not so greasy as it looks.

IMG_0929
A lot of bean sprouts and cabbage not only ease my guilty conscious but feel me great and energized.

IMG_0930
I love thick and chewy noodle too. Wait…, is this my favorite!? I didn’t realize for a long time, but it could be…

Ear Infection?

Around 2am I was suffering from terrible pain deep inside ear. Because it was too painful to go back to sleep, I got up and took a pill, which I usually would avoid.

I wished I could have taken a day off, but had an important appointment to fill.

Breakfast: watermelon, chocolate muffin, coffee + ibuprofen

IMG_0923
Lunch: tomato, Sukiyaki, rice & shiso furikake

I crashed into my bed and kept sleeping from 6pm to 7am straight.

Breakfast @ Cafe Vida

Costco Day!

We are not a member of Costco, but go there for home supply shopping once in a while when my mom gives us cash cards.

Since our fridge was empty this morning, we had breakfast on the way to Costco in Culver City.

IMG_0910
This place looks so organic and there were so many people in front of it around 9am. We would give up if the wait was too long, but luckily got a small table for two in patio.

IMG_0905
Organic Coffee $2.95
Look at mini muffins along with a cup of coffee. We instantly fell in love with this place. Coffee tastes amazing and well balanced between its sourness and bitterness.

IMG_0907
His: Breakfast Sandwich Melt with Cut Fruit $11.95
2 eggs over medium, cheddar, bacon, tomato, lettuce, onion, avocado and basil mayo on toasted multigrain bread
He was like, “Mmmmmm.”

IMG_0908
Mine: 2 plus 2 plus 2
2 eggs over easy, 2 strips of bacon and 2 organic brown rice pancakes served with flax & chia seeds, almond, fresh berries
I love the pancake, which gives me energy but not guiltiness.
