Negi Rice & Yukke Jan Soup

I was feeling like Plan Check Burger for dinner but on the way to his office in Santa Monica, I changed my mind to Yakiniku.

Negi Rice $3.50
This is a new discovery here. Simple but so delicious. We shared a small bowl. Next time I want to have a whole thing by myself 😛

Yukke Jan Soup $7.50
All time our favorite. It looks spicy but actually “sweet” with beef fat. So good!

Korean Day

When having no idea what’s for lunch or dinner, Korean markets are very helpful. There are a variety of ready-to-eat and easy-to-cook stuff.

Happy Hour @ Manpuku Tokyo BBQ

He was saying his muscle had been overused for playing tennis too hard. So we went to consume protein. Manpuku has a great deal for happy hour, so we rushed there around 5:45pm before all tables got taken.

IMG_6314
Of course, beer to start. First course is kimchi. He doesn’t eat kimchi, so it is all mine. Yay!

Salted short rib with onion
Squeeze lemon is must.

Sanchu + small dishes of condiments, miso, shredded green onion etc.

Wrapping meat and condiments with sanchu (lettuce) is very delicious.

Tsuruhashi Japanese BBQ

I went Orange County to see my friends. We had dinner at Tsuruhashi. Here are selections for the night.

IMG_5621
lettuce kimchi $2.75

IMG_5622
nappa kimchi $3.75

I love kimchi. I almost forgot that I used to not be able to eat any spicy food before I came to US. I hated kimchi especially just because most kimchi was fake in Japan. Tsuruhashi’s kimchi is special!

IMG_5623
tsubo kalbi $13.95
It tastes so good with a little sweetness. I believe there are only 6 pieces in the pot. It’s kinda pricey. Before this we had simply salted beef tongue dipped lemon juice ($8.75). My favorite!!!

IMG_5625
miso tongue $8.75
Since I love tongue so much, tried a different flavor. It is pretty good.

IMG_5626
prime rib eye steak $11.75
I order a glass of red wine for this steak. The quality is more than enough to be satisfied.

IMG_5628
cold noodle soup $8.25
It is a perfect finish. I love this Japanese style rei men (cold noodle).
