Molcajete Burrito @ Nina’s Mexican Food

He always searches good Mexican restaurants and found this one.

Complimentary Chips & Salsa

Molcajete Burrito (Asada) $9

This is so delicious. Good amount meat, moderately spicy sauce, cheese and avocado on top…well balanced all together.

He had a regular burrito and regretted not having this wet one. Of course, I shared with him, but wanted to have a whole thing 🙂 Yes, it was that good.

Celebrating Mexican Food

Breakfast: Cantaloup, Pain aux raisins, Coffee

Lunch: 4 Tacos, Asada, Carnitas & Pollo

We had a taco stand at work for all-you-can-eat-tacos. A Mexican family cooked BBQ and served authentic Mexican food. So delicious.

He is still sick and requested me to pick up tacos at Tacomiendo on the way home.

My dinner: Pescado Caesar Salad $7.50
Wow! This is so good. I love the crispy fish and perfectly seasoned. I can’t believe that it’s less than $10.

Breakfast: Apple and Icelandic Style Yogurt, Siggis

Free pastry from company @ 10am

Lunch: Leftover salad & veggie soup

I no longer go to Santa Monica to pick him up after work on Fridays since Metro Expo Line extended. That means we don’t dine out in Santa Monica lately. Today was exception because we suddenly craved food at one of our favorite places in Santa Monica.

Fish Taco x 2, Shrimp Taco x 2, Tostada de Mixto

Shrimp, scallop, cucumber, scallion, tomato, avocado…so yummy

Fish taco tastes a bit bland. I wish fish was crispier.

My First Carnitas Torta

We drove down to Huntington Beach to see our CPA in the morning. Traffic was not bad at all and we arrived there an hour earlier than the appointment time.

So drove further to see the ocean. It was such a great way to kill time!

Lunch at work

Enjoy a glass of chardonnay with edamame
I couldn’t wait for him coming home.

Dinner @ Tacomiendo
It feels that we are in Mexico here.

For the first time, I ordered Carnitas Torta ($7.50). It’s actually very first torta in my life.

It’s yummy and huge! Carnitas is crispy and juicy. I had only a half and took other half home.

“Hashigo” In Santa Monica

img_6284
Took a bus to Santa Monica mainly for Happy Hour. Plus some window shopping. A lot less crowds. It’s hard to tell seasons in LA, but summer seems officially over.

img_6289
Recently I watched Spanish Bars offering a variety of pincho (pintxo) on TV. Since then, I have been looking for a pincho place. Here we are! Starting 4pm, they have Happy Hour that looks a great deal.

Our drinks: Sangria Tinta $6, Cabotella Blonde Ale $6

img_6292
6 pintxos for $6
It could be mix & match any 6. Some of them were more appealing but I wanted to try everything and there were 6 kinds on the menu anyway.

Huevo Relleno, Serrano Ham with Fresh Tomato, Manchego Y Membrillo, Gildas (anchovy), Morcilla Sausage, Sobrasada…To be honest nothing impressed us.

img_6294
Ceviche De Atun Blanco $6, Albacore, Red Onion, Tomato, Potato Chips
Unfortunately, this is mediocre too. Then we got an idea we should do “Hashigo.” Hashigo means moving one bar to another in Japanese.

Very tasty.

Chef’s choice of filling was carnitas as well. Wished it was something else, but still good and perfect with beer.

Tres Leches $10
Our dinner complete with dessert.

I really want to come back for dinner next time. Everything on dinner menu looks good.
